My childhood was very physical. I was outside most of the time. Climbing trees, making dens, tree houses, and playing with other kids.
Mine too I was only 5 when we moved from an estate near the Woolwich Ferry crossing to a large green estate on the outskirts of London near to Richmond park.. It was like being in the country and we made the most of it,, dens, tree houses, games like run outs, tin tam tommy, and canon, hikes in the park with jam sandwiches and bottles of squash, paddeling in the streams , sunbathing on the grass watching the deer and the sheep. In winter going out in the first snowfall and sliding down the grass slopes on tea trays..
I used to have a bear called bingo bear, he was so cute!. 1 day our school asked us all to bring in a bear for teddybear's picnic day, and I lied to my parents about it.. told them that it had been canceled, because all I wanted to do was protect bingo from being broken by the other kids

Same.
I was always riding bicycles or skating... Fishing was a big hobby of mine lol I loved swimming a lot, too.
I don't do most of those activities anymore. I still like wandering around outside and looking plants, insects, and critters... lol that will never go away.
I would have liked to go fishing with my grandfather
unfortunately, he never got he chance to take me
1 day I'll get to go..
I used to go by myself sometimes. It can be a peaceful experience. You can definitely think about your grandfather while you do it, too... maybe catch something for him, in his honor/memory!

I've shared some positive memories here, but now I feel brave enough to share a traumatic one with all of you.
when I was around 4, I guess, my mother took me to the park. at the park, their was this little penny train... you sat in it, put in a coin and it went round and roun. I asked to go in it for a ride, and my mother said no. them ore and more I ask, the louder she shouted. eventually she said, if you said the word train one more time, I'll put you on a real train and abandon you their
I asked again, and she did. she drove me to the station, put me on a train and left me their.
I ended up going home with this random woman passenger, and was their for at least a week, before my mother showed up and basically beat me within an inch of my life.. it was all so scary
just 1 of many bad memories I have. as I get to know you all better, I will share more

That was terrible, Emily. Here is a story, when Richard Branson ( yep, that Virgin Atlantic guy) was 4 years old, his mother took him to some rural place 5 miles away from home, she then drove away and told him to find the way home.

That was terrible of her.
Nobody deserves that treatment
the saddest thing about that statement is that it's so true, and continues to happen all around us
mothers have children, end up not knowing (or not wanting) to take care of them, and the kids end up in those situations
of course, their are plenty of good mothers, but I tink if you want to be a mom, you should take like a test to see if you'd be a good fit.. so many arn't
the mother had 4 kids, and a house that well... was basically unfit to live in. the drainage system was broken, and inside, their were piles of toys, shoes, bits of food,, dog pooh, you couldn't walk around at all as stuff was everywhere- and to make matters worse, the mother would let her dog pooh in the kids paddling pool (where they played), and wasn't bothered
as for treatment of the kids, the baby girl was constantly crying because the mother couldn't even provide her with milk- she'd pick her up, give her a slap, and drop her.. like she was an object, rather than a living thing. the 2 middle kids didn't have anywhere to sleep and would sleep on the floor, then the eldest was allowed to watch adult stuff on tv (by adult, I mean sex shows) at the age of 14/15, nad was allowed to show them to the younger children too
if their was ever poor parenting, it's that
and where was the mother?
usually in the corner stuffing her face with chocolate

Dear lord ..some people just do not deserve to be parents. I know some of our parents suffered MH problems but this is just wicked. I really feel for the young you Emily..
My dad could be spiteful or off at times.. He would buy sweets for himself and hide them down the side of the armchair. He once sent us out to find a car with the new regestration ending in M... he promised a pound for the first one of us who came home with a M registration number. Now a pound was a lot of money back then and we scoured the streets without any luck and we came home exhausted and miserable..
Then he told us that new car reg letters come out in August and it was only just July. He knew but instead of making a joke and laughing about it he said .Íts your fault for being so stupid if you had had any sense you would have gone straight to a dealership and asked.
I hear these parental stories, and I feel bad that I think so little of my own parents.
They weren't bad parents, they just weren't that interested. I felt that I was just a chore for them, and they did what they felt was their duty by me.

Agreed... as you mentioned in your other post, some people are just not cut out to be mothers. I do feel society pressures women to become mothers, but these are prime examples of why we shouldn't!
