It all the preservatives that they put in processed food to make it last or enhance it's flavour. Have a look at the side of packet on processed foods. They usually say things like E150, or E219. Too many E numbers and kids become hyperactive.

A few years there was an outcry, as a certain orange drink was turning kids orange lol. I think it was sunny delight. The manufacturers were pressured by the fuss to cut back on E numbers.
