New here again

I am a city girl Heather, I have been living in or near a big city all my life and we do things in the city most of the time. In the big city, no one cares about the other, regular people like me just go on, don't have to prove anything....in a mid size community, people always want to prove themselves. In my city, I am working for a pretty controversial employer and it's also a non-profit so I have to bite my tongue and keep my opinion for myself.

I can't see myself being so isolated, I have to be within minutes to hospital, grocery stores....

You are in NC, right?  I think SC is cheaper and you can get a whole lot of land over there.

One of my neighbors years ago said that to me when I told him he should put a leash on his dog to avoid the dog being ran over by passing-by cars.

We don't have leash laws.

If our dog is on the pavement, she is on a leash. She only gets off in the wild open spaces, woods, or beaches.

It actually depends where you live over here. Where I live now there is a strict leash law but back when I was in New Hampshire there was none.
