Well.. tried making a pot roast, and the roast is staying tough =/ Grr.. I didn't do anything differently, so not sure why it's not softening up. I am going to keep cooking it to see if it makes any difference because otherwise it's probably nearly too tough to eat. This is the second time I have experienced this issue total, and I don't ever know what changes the outcome.

I cooked it for much longer, and it did start to become more tender. Geez... it took all night lol

Making our way through pot roast.
We also picked up pizza yesterday, so we'll alternate the two. Although, some days we'll have one for lunch and one for dinner to be sure we eat everything in a safe time-frame.

I don't usually follow 'eat by' dates. If it looks ok, smells ok...

I don't either Cherry. If not I would be throwing away perfectly good food.

Depends on what it is for me, but yes, I don't automatically throw it away. Some things definitely last way longer than it says, like eggs for instance, they last me months beyond the date. Milk and many cheeses are also good for much longer. Chicken a lot of times for me ends up smelling really gross if I don't cook it by the date, so I try to do it a couple days before.
My pizza does not have a date on it; it's just the rule of eating food within a week or less =p Do you not follow that? Every day just adds more things growing on it, so it increases the risk of illness. I have a sensitive stomach, so I don't take too many risks with that.
There are bacteria (or toxins) that do not have a smell or look, and they can make you sick... or kill you ;p So, going just on sight and smell is not always reliable. Probably more rare, though, but you just never know. However, I live in the US, and I don't trust anyone to properly handle anything lol we're removing regulations right and left these days.
