Yes. 40 hrs a week. Different jobs. Sometimes I cook for the patients. Sometimes I'm the lead in the kitchen. The rest of the time I'm out in the grill in some capacity. Either working the grill or the fryer. I am a relief person so I don't have one set position. However, because of my Tourette's they try to keep me on evening shifts. They were working me day/night day/night but, when I started crying every time someone looked at me cockeyed they had a little chat with me. Decided it would be in their best interest to keep me to one main time schedule. So I'm usually working 10:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sometimes 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. I am working today so I'm here with you guys before work.
If they are putting themselves out to facilitate you, they must value you highly.
They do it because I'm a good worker. Not sure if they value me. LOL I'm only out sick like once maybe twice a year. I'm on time and here for every shift. I shuffle easy if they need to move me around for the day. Like, if I'm scheduled to work out front and something happens and they need me to go in the kitchen and work. I can just pop back there and take over. I think they like that I get my work done and that I try to do a good job. Some days I'm a little grouchy and I can cop a tude but, if that's all I do...I'm doing good. This has been the best job so far.

When I was boss, you would have ticked my boxes: Turns up on time Gets the job done Says 'yes' when asked to help out here and there
What else is there?
I never bothered as to whether I liked staff or not, or if they had an attitude. One of my best workers was a complete arse. It is now 12 years since I walked out, and I would still not cross the road to speak to her. But she knows where to come if she ever wants a good reference.

muppet: I showed up for the interview even though I was sick as hell. I told them I could come back if they needed me to but, they said it was ok. That alone impressed them so much they hired me. LOL! Current boss says I'm the "least problematic" which for me is a victory in itself.

Now we are getting off topic about me moving our off-topic conversation here
Back to work! Boooo...
So, as I mentioned before, I had a temporary/seasonal position that was expected to end soon. Well, it ended yesterday. They ran out of work because of the virus, and I was on standby for a few weeks already before then while they were waiting to see if any work would come in.
I asked if I would be allowed to return for other seasons, and they said I could. Sometimes they don't bring people back, so I am glad I can. If I don't return, then it will be due to finding another position elsewhere!
As for my other position, I have been much busier after taking on the additional work. Plus, with many people being quarantined with nothing to do, there are many more students actually asking me questions and submitting assignments, so there is extra work on top of the extra work right now. I know it won't stay quite this busy, so I am going to save up some money to make up for the times where it's slower.

Heather, do you know even if you are on 1099, you can claim unemployment now? I am not sure how much, looks like almost $1000/week.
I'm one of the lucky ones. I am doing very little but still being paid my full salary. I check in everyday and do a few things but thats about it. I know when we ramp back up I'll be putting in a tremendous amount of time though.
I have my plate overfilled and over spilled. I have so much to do regardless of whether I am in the Bahama or in my office but my retirement will pay off, another 7 years, that's all.
