Looks like her browser crashes when she tries to get here. She was able to login once, but then the crash happened before she could post. She can use other ProBoard forums, but not this one. Strange!
I did ask if she'd tried a different browser (my go-to when a site isn't working with my preferred browser), but I haven't heard back yet.
Hmmm.... have to select a new theme... Purple with no snowflakes.
I don't want to overstep my bounds but do you think it's a good idea to send out a mass email to the wof members using admin > mass email with that fix? to put https:// in front of the domain
now i understand why users got errors when accessing other forum, seems like a current bug in the pb dashboard
issue can be replicated by doing this.
1. login to proboards.com
2. click on a forum
3. you get the 'checking for secure' thingy but it's using the url of domain.com not < note the s: which is secure......
4. if you stop the test or open a new tab then add the full correct url with the s, like womenonlyforum.com then it works like a charm and emily can get in
We don't have many active members, and almost all of them have still been coming around, so I don't want to bother hundreds of people who don't come here lol
I can always email individual members that haven't been around that we're used to seeing, which is something we do at times to check in on people to make sure they are okay. If they report back with having that problem, then we can let them know a workaround.
Emily mentioned coming here crashes her browser, so it's highly likely it's the snow causing her problems. I had a theme created just for those who can't handle them before, but most people haven't had too big of an issue for me to recommend it lol
yeah and it happened after i went to the no snow theme.
this also confirms the issue is not the show theme but all other proboards using custom-domain and it's hit or miss
it was reported on the proboards support and I chimed in and provided them screenshots of what I am seeing in order to convince proboard admins to fix it but since it's hit or miss and not everyone gets it, it was extremely difficult to even explain this to them, and I work in the IT department explaining this to the admins (IT people on
finally got on. took 4 tries. kept getting an error msg and i emailed it to cherry. couldn't get on another pro board site i go to either.
Post the screenshot in here, too. That helps us figure out what it is.
Sometimes proboards just goes down for a bit, too, but I'll have to wait to see what it said to have an idea. If you couldn't get to any proboards sites.. then it could have been a temporary downtime on their end.
An error message would usually not be from the plugins. The snow plugin would just make it so you can't load much on the site at all because it's so bogged down, if the browser/PC is not up to par. It would be like extreme lag in a video game!

Here is what I get (but not now, but did a day or two before and I believe Mary is seeing this too)
There "not secure" in the above screenshot was not a bookmark (favorite) but when I logged into my proboards.com dashboard, and clicked on womenonlyforum.net, it comes with the "checking connection (above this other screenshot) making me do a Capcha then it takes me to the "not secure" womenonlyforum.com which not secure is http and missing https which is the whole issue.
Lately, I have been the err bear (blue bear attacking a server room with a white dudes face looking surprised) and sometimes cache issues too, so that is a good tip you shared heatherly
@a_muppet I saw that error for me too this morning
The fix as you mentioned is to clear cache, then if the proboards dashboard is asking funky by "checking our connection" then going to a "not secure" like the screenshots, the trick is to press escape on the keyboard to stop the 'checking network connection' put in the link https:// in front of womenonlyforum.com so it looks exactly (including this "s")
what i'm trying to tell you is the https is already part of the address because when i click on it to change it it's already there so there's no way that's the problem.
Most of the time, it's going to be an issue where you just have to try again later, unfortunately! It won't usually be an issue with the forum itself, but something on server sides and whatnot. Aside from those times I forget to pay for the domain connection a little late
