What about our environment?

That's awful.

I really hope it makes it through these fires.

Let's keep our fingers crossed that they can protect these trees.

The most interesting thing, is that it's improving.

That means we can make a difference.

This one I over heard when I was away. This may make your head nip.

What is best, real, or synthetic, leather shoes?

Real leather involves killing animals, usually cattle, but not always.

Synthetic leather adds to the plastic mountain, and the pollution of the skies from factory chimneys.

In a bit of a shooting themselves in the foot exercise our local council has decided upon a new scheme for our rubbish collection.
At this moment we pay €343 per year for our rubbish collection. Which is evey 2 weeks. We have a paper bin a green rubbish bin for compostables and our grey bin for anything else such as plastics household waste etc.

With the new scheme we will pay €173 per year. Plus €1 each time we put the bin out and 35 cents per kilo of rubbish. However you cannot lock your bin and you have to leave it by the side of the road on collection day meaning any Tom dick or Harry can come along and put extra rubbish into your container.
A grey bin holds approximately 70 kg of rubbish.

Of course for most households it's going to work out more expensive personally I can see a hell of a lot of fly-tipping going on.

Real. almost always a product of the food supply chain.

And it almost always is a better quality.

Vegans try to avoid or minimize all forms of animal exploitation, including that of bees. As a result, most vegans exclude honey from their diets.

Plants know what they are doing. They are exploiting us as much as any....

Does this really surprise you?    

Our local town centre recycling centre had four large bins in it. The bins were not emptied often enough, so people just dumped their rubbish next to the bins, so the little enclosure was over full of rubbish, and looked awful.

You get the picture, it was a complete mess and an eye sore.

The council have now solved the problem. They have taken the recycle bins away, and cordoned off the enclosure.

This could also have gone into the wtf thread.

Problem solved.....
