I do believe there are relatively new uses of disinfectants internally. The use of UV probes is also a novel new approach for people on ventilators. The probe goes down inside the lungs and the UV light does destroy certain viruses.

When one door of happiness closes, another opens; but often we look so long at the closed door that we do not see the one which has been opened for us. ― Helen Keller
It is not the punishments that put people off. It's the likelihood of being caught, and punished.
If 100% of criminals were caught and punished 100% of the time. You could decimate the jail population, as no-one would second offend.
I doubt if it's true to everyone Cherry.
It's the white collar criminals that are afraid of getting caught. But to them, it's the process of being prosecuted that is most humiliating.
The point is that there is no "afraid of getting caught". With 100% catch and conviction, they ARE going to get caught.
Crime is all about balancing the benefit of the crime against the risk of being convicted.
We have all picked up a pen from the bank, or taken an envelope from work... Would you have done either if you knew you were being watched? Or do you just do it as you can get away with it, though you know it is wrong.

I tend to avoid doing anything that is wrong because I am watching myself xD The guilt I would feel is not worth it to me.
When I was a child, I accidentally stole a caramel. I thought they were free from a bin, a take 1 kind of scenario for everyone to share. I found out from my mom that they were not free, and I started to cry because I had already eaten it and could not give it back. I was really upset with myself lol
Another scenario... I ripped off someone intentionally in school (she was mean, and I felt she deserved it at the time). She was the type who thought she was better and smarter... and she let me know. I asked to buy her blow pops for more than they were worth, and I told her I'd bring the money the next day knowing I was not going to be returning to school the last few days of the year. Technically her agreeing was trying to rip me off because they are only worth a few pennies lol She gave them to me, and I never paid for them. My evil plan worked, but I still felt bad afterward, so I didn't even get to enjoy it.

I think you have just proven my point.
You have learned that you are always going to get caught, and you don't like the consequences.Had you felt good about, do you really think you would have stopped?

How's the guilt doing these years later?
I still feel kind of ashamed retelling the stories lol
Nobody stops what they are doing when they like it, even with the consequences in their mind. I think some would rather later have the consequences to be able to do what they want. I cannot relate to that... lol
I think they would accept the risk of the consequences, but if the consequences were guaranteed. I doubt it very much, especially, if they had already sampled them.
It is good to love many things, for therein lies the true strength, and whosoever loves much performs much, and can accomplish much, and what is done in love is well done.” – Vincent Van Gogh
