This is a thread about songs that have lyrics that make you think WTF.
This famous Glen Campbell song is him celebrating a woman, he can have at his convenience and treat like poo. He has bestowed on her the ultimate compliment:
He hides his sleeping bag behind her couch, when he leaves her behind.....

These lyrics kind of creep me out... seriously, wtf lol she sings about how the guy moved on and is happy, and she is sounding like a stalker who is obsessed with him.
"I hate to turn up out of the blue uninvited But I couldn't stay away, I couldn't fight it. I had hoped you'd see my face and that you'd be reminded That for me it isn't over.
Never mind, I'll find someone like you"
Another Adele song:
"I set fire to the rain Watched it pour as I touch your face Well, it burned while I cried 'Cause I heard it screaming out your name, your name I set fire to the rain And I threw us into the flames When we fell, something died 'Cause I knew that that was the last time, the last time, oh"
The lyrics make no sense to me lol how do you set fire to water? And.. just.. WUT? lol
I have never heard of rain meaning an argument metaphorically. The lyrics don't really fit for that explanation too well.
Rain is usually a cleansing event during the bad/sad times, I thought. The storm would be the negative event, and the rain would wash it away.
It sounds more like she is getting rid of the memories of their relationship, if I really had to make sense of it. More like the rain can't wash away the issues anymore, and she is letting them be destroyed instead.

Fascinating! Now we have evidence of a cultural divide. Other than guns and politics, I think this is the first one we have had here between us ukers and you americans.
Scotland is famous for it's green hills and snow covered mountains, England almost as much.
Reason being that it rains a lot, in Scotland we have no end of different names for different types of rain. Rain really, is seen as unpleasant, so here we will say here comes the rain, and regard it as a bad thing and too repetitive.

Guess where Annie Lennox is from?
Haha, Lennox, I could guess that.
We have some areas in the US that are used to lots of rain, but still, rain being used to mean arguments is new to me!
But... bad times.. or sad times, I have heard that, sort of. I don't consider arguments to be quite the same as bad/sad times. It's usually more emotional events. Maybe a break up would count?
But it is fun to hear of new meanings of things!
