Vermont is very close to becoming the first state to legalise weed though the state legislature! Also good news out of Pa., Canada, and last, but certainly NOT least . . . Australia.
I wonder if it ever occurs to them that they might get their message across if they looked a lot less hippy-dippy than they tend to do at these protests.
Imagine how much more effective they could look if they appeared in job interview style?
I can understand perhaps that in the distant past (1940 - 60's) people experimented with mind altering drugs wondering if any enhanced mental acuity and creativity. But today I know of no evidence such is the case.
Aside from tax money, I see no real benefit to anyone. And won't the increase in tax revenue need to be spent on increased healthcare of the addict? Is a young pot-head really an asset to the society or is it just another step in immediate pleasure gratification?

Talk about a prude!
My problem with dope being legalised is that you can go about your daily business with it perfectly adequately, and it is that word "adequately" that puts me off of it being legalised.
Someone stoned off their nut, is not going to excel, and they will usually take the easy route in life.
Nor as wealthy, he would have a 9-5 job, and be in middle management.
People in high-profiled jobs partake in marijuana plenty. It is used by people under severe stress that need it to continue to be successful without having a breakdown. They usually have self-control, though.
That is the main issue with drugs.. people cannot control themselves or limit themselves. All drugs. Making it legal/illegal doesn't change that.
The benefit to legalizing drugs is that people can actually get the treatment they need if they are truly an addict. Treatment instead of incarceration is a positive thing to me.
States where cannabis is fully legal for recreational use:
Alaska Arizona California Colorado Connecticut Illinois Maine Massachusetts Michigan Montana Nevada New Jersey New Mexico New York Oregon Vermont Virginia Washington Washington, DC
States where cannabis is totally illegal:
Idaho Kansas Nebraska North Carolina South Carolina Wyoming
States where only medical cannabis is legal:
Alabama Arkansas Delaware Florida Hawaii Louisiana Maryland Minnesota Mississippi Missouri New Hampshire North Dakota Ohio Oklahoma Pennsylvania Rhode Island South Dakota Utah West Virginia
i'm also subscribed to marijuanamoment.net's weekly newsletter, and the future for cannabis consumers, and the cannabis industry looks bright! it is becomming more accepted these days. i think the "pot party" post would be a great way to keep up with cannabis news, and updates, and stuff.

It's only real benefit [socially] is that it is less harmful than alcohol, it's main rival. The main problem with it is that it encourages and supports mediocrity.
I know people who use it for pain relief. traditional pain relief isnt helping eg tramadol, amitriptyline and pain plasters yet a little MJ does.
Like most things used carefully in moderation it can be helpful. (I got caught out with a tooth abcess no dentist available MJ numbed the pain enough for me to sleep and get treatment the next day) Used like sweeties or a party joke its dangerous just like alcohol or perscription medication.

I only criticise it for it's social use.
A friend gave the so some during her cancer care pains. When she asked me if it had helped, I asked the so, who was high at the time. She replied:

"Who cares?" and headed into the kitchen.
there's people like that in every group who just screw everything up for the rest of the group because either they can't be mature, or they can't be a decent human being lol. cannabis is much safer than alcohol, and prescription medication. there's no danger with cannabis at all.

(my bold) not true, there is a danger in any drug baby asprin included. smoking it can lead to lung damage in similar way to tobacco use. People who become reliant on it may have problems functioning in day to day life , it can influence driving skills in the same way as alcohol... the list goes on.
Just pointing out that say NO danger is wrong there is marginally less danger than with some other substances but like everything else it should be taken with caution.

It has been proven to be a catalyst for some people with mental health problems, and to affect long term memory function.
As Cassie says, it is also not good for the lungs.
Being better than alcohol is not actually a compliment either.
Smoking anything is generally not very good for the lungs, but I suppose they still say it's overall better/safer on the lungs to a degree than cigarettes... I don't smoke anything, though.

i have never smoked weed either, or anything else but, i have read a lot about the health benefits of cannabis, and i am really into cannabis culture. i support the legalization of cannabis, and i hope as it becomes more legal, and researched there can be safer ways to consume THC, CBD, or any cannabinoid within cannabis. i would like to try the cbd/thc gummies, and edibles, and drinks.
has anyone ever vaped before? i haven't but, is it a safer option than smoking?

I have vaped. It is supposed to be safer, unless you're using an e-cig with flavorings or fake stuff in it... then less safe!
I've also tried CBD drops.
CBD relaxed me, but sometimes I wasn't sure if it also caused more heart palpitations, so I haven't touched anything in a couple years, but I still have heart palpitations regardless. Although, it technically might have been versions that had more THC (still marginal)... but THC generally might not be as good for people with anxiety, so makes sense..
The main problem with it is that it encourages and supports mediocrity.
It may also do the opposite, especially for those with anxiety or depression that can't motivate themselves to do much of anything.. it can help some to feel good enough to live life again and accomplish goals.
Even those in high-powered positions might perform even better because of stress reduction.
Although, if we're talking about pot heads who sit around and get high all day and do nothing else, then I can definitely see your point lol there will always be some of those, but overall, I wouldn't say cannabis itself is what encourages this behavior. It just gives the already lazy and unmotivated more of an excuse as to why they can't do anything. Some people don't know how to do anything in moderation, which can make it worse, but honestly, better them being lazy on cannabis than dead on another drug they are using too liberally.
