By engaging in a forum and sharing our thoughts we are all writers of sorts.. But some of us might think of taking it a step further and my advice is go for it!
Years ago when I was unemployed I started writing a book , it was more something to fill the time and add to my cv than anything else.. Then my pc crashed and I lost 90% of what Id written so I abandoned it. Then about 2 years ago a member on another forum got really nasty with me , she said I was boring and that no one wanted to read what Id had written her words were really hurtful..
I was withdrew from the forum after that feeling hurt and un-welcome but something in me wanted to fight back and so instead of just hitting back at Mrs Nasty I dug out what was left of my first attempt and got writing again..
A year ago this week I published my first book.. Im no JK Rowling Im not earning millions and the book isnt a major work, Ive found that even though I had it proof read and ran it through an automated proof reader mistakes have slipped through.. But, and heres the point I get royalty payments each month, people are buying the book Ive actually been asked to sign copies now a few time which feels really strange and at the same time I feel Ive won a point with Mrs Nasty because people do want to read what Ive written and the fact that they pay to do so proves it.
Im now starting my second book and I hope that will come out later this year.
These days with self publishing platforms and short story competitions its easy to get started and well worth the trouble of having a go so to all you ladies who carry such wonderful life stories with you give it a go, let the writer inside you flourish.
