I wanted to try world of warcraft but I don't know.
Eh.. I played WOW for like 6 months a really long time ago. It's okay, but I never got as into it as others did. It can be fun for socializing, though, so it might be something you'd enjoy.
I prefer Elder Scrolls Online myself, so you can look into that as well. I would spend hours fishing in that game LOL it's not even the point of the game. I also spent a lot of time stealing items and selling them underground lol
These type of games would probably be great for you if you have been wanting to make friends or feel alone. You can join guilds and stuff.
I am mostly playing Rainbow Six Siege these days. They have seasonal events, so I am working on one now... there is a cosmetic item I want for one of the operators I main (Finka)... However, it's at level 70! I probably won't make it that far because you only go up like 1-2 levels per hour on average unless you win every match lol I am running out of time, and I already started late. I don't have much time to play during the week at all. Too much work and responsibilities, dangit ;p
Heather you said you have Steam right? Are you able to get in and post questions in the discussion forums? Mine won't seem to work. I got still life and couldn't play it. Said I needed something called Direct Play. Is there a way to tell if a game needs extra crap on there before you buy it?
I managed to get Sims Freeplay for free on my tablet. I had it once before but I couldn't figure out how to play it. I think I'll be ok now. I got rid of my stupid candy crush games. I have those on the laptop. Less space that way.

Yes, it will tell you the requirements for games under System Requirements (usually at the bottom of the page) and sometimes on the right hand side somewhere it will tell you if you need to install anything extra (like the games that use Origin, etc.). DirectX is usually part of Windows, and Direct Play is an API component of DirectX.
What OS do you have? I'm not sure you can have it on others or not right now (maybe in the future), but if you have Windows, then you should be able to install it/use it.
You can return games if you didn't play them for more than I think 2 hours? I forget how long.
I'm not sure why you can't post in the forums? I have had Steam a long time, so I don't know if you have to follow extra steps before you are allowed to post nowadays. My only thought would be the possibility of needing to confirm your email address or something, but I don't know if that's a thing with them. The link for Still Life discussions doesn't work for me, so does it even have one? I can't find anything. It is an old game.
I'm trying to avoid installing anything else if I can help it. How do you prove how long you played it? I turned it on and it went dead and that message popped up but it's been in my possession for a few days. Week maybe. I have windows 10. i read that sometimes antiviral and spyware stuff won't let that open.

If the game closed afterward, then you weren't in it very long and can return it. You can see how long you have played on your profile as one place to look.
Yeah, sometimes you need to add exclusions to virus protections or firewalls so you can use certain things. DirectX is used by a lot of games, so if you actually do not have it or it's outdated, then you would still need it. You most likely do have it, but maybe it needs an update if it's not just being blocked like you said.
in a few more minutes i will possess my 2nd pokemon game ever. the first one i had suck. this new one for the switch looks fun. i'm getting let's go pikachu. pika's cute.
i believe it's a mystery that takes place on an old farm. i haven't started it yet. i will let you know if my character has to shovel poo to find a secret key or anything. lol!
I found a page that shows various town tunes for animal crossing so I have Fur Elise as my tune and I made my first custom design for the flag. I have a 2nd bridge and I've been island hopping.
I played Rainbow Six Siege (R6 for short) all weekend, and I was able to get the face for my operator lol I'm never doing that again. I am worn out. I normally do not play that much, but I was very determined because there was something to work toward. Events are evil!! lol
So far all I've managed is to find a couple tools & get the boards off the gate. There was some stupid pipe puzzle that didn't appear solvable so I took the SKIP option.
if i didn't skip i'd never get in to play the game. there was no way to work the puzzle. no place to slide the pipes to move anything. *shrugs* i only have just so much smarts. lol!
i got another game this evening called touryst. looks like a cute little exploration game.
