BUT old-fashioned post is better than a quick text message. It is a treat to receive an old fashioned Christmas card or greeting card in general.
I like hand made cards but in this throw away society I just cannot face the thought of any I spend hours painting going in the bin.
The best idea I saw in the Guinness book of records (I think). Two brothers used to exchange the same card on their birthday for years. That way at least a nice card can be saved. Recycling at it's best.
You are certainly right, but I thought it was sisters?
As a kid I used to love the Guiness book of records. I remember being so disappointed when it was reported that one had been killed during the irish civil war in the 70's. I just felt they should be above that.

I sent my good and loyal friend a hand written letter yesterday. I used funky stickers to decorate the letter. I kept the letter fairly short but it was concise and light hearted.
I am sending her a Moonpig.com greeting card as well soon.

Do you ever use washi tape?
I use it for my overseas letters its light and comes in so many styles so you can really jazz up boring writing paper.
I just got an email that my Christmas cards are ready I can pick them up on Saturday.. I get a small number printed each year for family ( thats why the small number) any other people or neighbours just get a standard shop bought one..
I am beginning to despair the roti maker I order for my daughter has arrived damaged !
So now Im down another gift.
Do you buy through Amazon, Cassie?
The roti maker is from Amazon. Ive asked for a return because of the damage but at the moment the seller is saying I have to pay the postage myself. Thats almost the same cost as the machine. Amazon say they must provide a pre paid label. They have until Tuesday to respond.

Does Amazon have drop off center where you can just drop it off? In the US, they have drop-off places every where, lockers in the supermarkets, drugstores, grocery stores...

It's Amazon's problem is my opinion. They should sort it, then deal with the supplier.

Here Amazon used the parcel service DHL Amazon themselves say that for damaged or faulty goods the seller must provide a prepaid label. I have asked for a return and the label is not prepaid so I've contacted the seller and today they have contacted me asking for photographic proof of the damage.. hopefully this means we are getting somewhere if not I will be onto Amazon and explain to them that their seller is not a deering to their rules.

I have never had an issue with any returns I have made to Amazon. They always pick it up the next day. Never had to pay either.

I need to go with ecards this year because there's a postal strike happening here. We could still have time to get cards out all over the world before Christmas, but I think it's better to come up with a different plan and not have to stress about postal deadlines.
If anything I've ordered for the kids doesn't come in time for Christmas, I'll get a little something from the dollar store as a fun placeholder and then we could enjoy an extra gift when it does arrive.

As a leftie, I am reluctant to say that the postal workers are not reading the future. I realise they want more money, don't we all?
The internet, computers, drones, and small delivery companies, are all picking up their work. How many people like you will decide to use ecards next year too?

It's the same here. It's not a job for life....
I'm not sure what is happening with the postal service these days but the posties seem to be moved around all over the place. You would think that a regular postie would be good for everyone. They are mostly cheerful though and I chat a little when walking around.
Years ago now, mum was a postie. She enjoyed it but was less favourable to management. They were going into all manner of ways to cut costs, seemingly preferring casuals rather than solid permanent staff. That is obviously the case at Christmas when they employ temporary staff. I imagine Christmas tips for posties are rare now.

What my patients do or did in their employment history, is often very relevant to their health conditions. Thus I always asked about it, and every single postie, bar none, said it was a great job.
The closest I came to a negative was one guy who said he preferred his lorry driving days.
