This highlights many of the things that I have mentioned in recent times. I seem to remember when I was little and we first got a phone that it was an offence to use the phone system for many of the things that we see phone, and internet, companies making money out of now.
I suppose it's made harder by the fact that people want Internet freedom and the good things it brings though.
The real dangers of artificial intelligence is that people tend to be too stupid to know how to use it and because of this, as well as an AI’s learning algorithm, effects the performance of the AI. Yet companies can’t seem to grasp this and continue to implement it just so they can avoid actually paying their workers. The singularity is the least of our worries.

It is never the intention of replacing anyone, it is intended to enhance. It is the people's misconception and misuse of AI that create problem.
It is a knife with two blades, it can help you but it can also turn on you if you don't use it properly. I have been using AI to enhance my work and found it very useful.
alsr The intention is irrelevant. Developers should know better. We’ve seen it with automation several times. Yet nobody ever pays attention. Just because something can be done doesn’t mean it should be done.

Well Leaf, you can say the same thing about people who have access to guns, knives as well.
Of course intention is relevant, idiots must be educated about the intended use of everything even though they don't give a damn.
From this, it sounds a bit like AI can rewrite history... lol much like some humans try to do, but it will make it believable and realistic if it has imagery to pair with it.

I don't think you understood what I was saying. Many people think AI is there to replace human, as I said, that is wrong. It is NOT the intention, I emphasize on INTENTION. People have to understand it is there to enhance their work, their experience, not to replace. Understand the intention is important because it helps understand the purpose. For example, the intention of the cough drop is to help you with your cough, they are not candies.
When the computer first came out, people always thought that was to reduce the human labor, it was not the intention, the intention was to improve the performance, and when people finally got it, things got better. understand the intention is important, rather than crying wolf.
So I am reading this article about Google's Gemini AI giving out wrong information. How many times have this happened? AI is only as intelligent as the information fed into it. Many researchers work so hard to come up with review that help consumers make decision. CHAT GPT uses an algorithm to quickly gather these information, rank them and then spin out the result. What a highway robbery! These researchers are now thinking they will be out of job, so wrong, the minute they stop doing what they are doing, CHAT GPT AI will no longer have the information to spin out. These researchers should get together and sue the companies that have ownership to that AI service. Same thing as if a DJ plays a song at a night club, they should compensate the artists but sadly, in most cases, they don't. Probably the artists think of it as a marketing venue.

Exactly. AI is nothing without us, not the other way around.
Try reading it in different ways and from different viewpoints and you may see what I mean.
Would love to see your points, Jen.
I ought to have put a few examples down as I read it as it's not having the same impact this morning but I think my main thought was to see it through the eyes of arrogance, eg to look at it with the view of someone like Trump. Overlooking it's dangers. Another thought was that AI may be nothing without us,..... but infinately dangerous with us.
I am just thinking of the statement in isolation though, just thinking round it. Not in relation to previous posts, or who is stating it.
While googling using our PC (windows), I noticed this "copilot" answering my google questions keywords search. Well, it's AI as I looked up. I did not know that.
You Ladies all have great points. I agree it can be dangerous if you don't use it properly, like if you don't use the guns properly, it is dangerous. This is why I emphasized on intention in my previous post.
I am sure Chat GPT AI has been abused all the time. I also experienced co-pilot recently. People need to use technology wisely and the creators need to do more to filter the negative aspects of them. I think they can, they just don't care.

Good for you, Annie, and anyone else that keeps up with modern tech. I have become a bit of a dinosaur in certain parts of computer science, and I could do with catching up. I did used to be near the front.

I find it a bit of a constant battle to keep up. One thing I learned from college was to be adaptable and able to quickly get into something if needed. It's not unusual to learn something one day and find out that the knowledge is pretty much obsolete a year or two later. My view is that it's being able to pick something up quickly if you need to is far more useful than what you actually know, although having a good grounding on the background of the subject is always important.

I just realised I am using the AI function on ebay. I do double check it, and often amend to suit myself.
