I'd prefer not to get out and about on December 26, as with the weekend after Thanksgiving...too many people on the road, paying too much attention to their "lists" or their phones.
The popularity of ordering online has greatly reduced traffic. I noticed that this year, as my bell-ringing shift was on the Saturday after Thanksgiving, followed by a stylist visit nearby. Driving that day wasn't too bad. Still, why buck the "tradition"? LOL
black monday sales. same as black friday sales. i don't participate in this madness here because it gets too violent. one lady i know got a broken finger trying to get an iphone at one of those things. people get hurt and fight over crap here. i've seen stories where someone punched someone in the face to get a toy for their kid. it's animalistic. welcome to the usa. home of the rude and greedy.
It's not called Boxing Day here but there will be sales starting tomorrow.
What do you call it?
Boxing day here is probably completely gone as a tradition.
On xmas day, we would have the goodies in our stockings, and we would look at the presents santa had left under the tree, and try to guess what they were. On Boxing day, we would open them.
Our family never did it, but the one across the road from us did. They were always jealous as we would be out playing with our new stuff lol
But isn't black friday at the beginning of December?
Black Friday is the day after Thanksgiving, which is always the fourth Thursday in November. Thanksgiving can fall anywhere from November22nd (like this year) to the 28th, so Black Friday is never in December.
Apparently, retailers didn't like the reference to some horrible event (black), so they came up with a new meaning...that stores were operating in the red until the Christmas shopping season. Here's a link to its Etymology:
From what I understand, Cyber Monday was born from the early days of online shopping. The internet speed at most homes was nowhere near as fast as at work. Many people waited until returning to work on the Monday after Thanksgiving to complete their Christmas shopping lists online.

I was sorting my accounts and statements yesterday. All that checking reminded me of the downsides of online shopping
LOL Have you been found guilty of having a good time?
No such luck! Before Christmas you may have seen that I mentioned an order off ebay which went haywire. It went completely beserk and, even though I returned the faulty goods, ebay have closed the order and are refusing to refund me. That's ongoing but it has made me look very closely at all my transactions as I gather evidence.

I found it a lot easier to phone them when I had difficult issue. Yours sounds like a difficult one.
