I still have not learned how to play this game yet. I am lost. I guess I have to guess a work. But my vocab is small
It's hard work sometimes for those of us who know the language but it is good exercise of the mind. I suggest you have a go but set yourself a time limit each day for trying. People have different methods but experience of English words makes me look for common letters and word combinations. Also typical word endings. As a puzzle they often use unusual words with odd letter combinations though which does catch us out but, in general, the guidance I give is usueful (at least I find it so).

Yes, guess a word. A lot of us start with a word that has the most common letters or vowels, and we might reuse that word daily.
Then you use the green or yellow highlights to help you figure out where to go next. If green, then that means you guessed the right letter in the right spot, and if yellow, then that means that letter is in your word, but just not where you guessed it.
Then you have to come up with words that have the green letters in the right place or the yellow letters in a new spot until you guess the right word.
I make up words all the time that end up being an actual word using the method Jen mentioned... you guess what makes sense for how words generally tend to be with the arrangement of letters.

I just found out about it. From what I gather, one has six tries to guess the five-letter word-of-the-day. I just played for the first time, and I got it in four tries!
access link, type in letters to guess a world, yellow is that letter is correct but in wrong place, green is correct and in correct place, once you are done, you can click 'share' to copy to paste on this forum.
this is how bad I play. I struggled to find a five letter words, I couldn't make up words too as it's searching a word list of sorts. So my random guess have to be real words, and that is my issue. I struggled. Oh well.
About the site not letting me register with my email....I use a custom email something@dominicmcclintock.com and they don't allow these custom domains too. Dang! so I had to use another email that I rarely use. Dang dang. I contacted the site to let them know I had this issue, asking if they can fix. I had to google to find all of this stuff, so sorry, I 'm really dumb as rocks.

I don't know if it is where you live that makes them ask but I don't have any account with them at all and have never been asked.
On the grid you have three correct letters in the second row. A logical way to proceed (but may not be for an expert) is to use these letters in any later words you enter. That way you steadily home in on the correct answer - see my effort on todays in the following post:
