I don't watch many horror movies these days. They seem to push them too far now, having much continuous gore, like in the zombie movies, or dark scenes. There was a certain charm about some of the older films, particualrly Dracula for me (and I love the old TV Addams Family). Nowadays it seems they are there just to shock with visual sensation rather than good storyline.

The Adams Family series was good, less so the films.
I love horror and I watch something just about every week. It all started from my dad, he is a horror and sci-fi fan and he got me in to it. Some of it is really bad with too much "blood" but I tend to watch the ones that are more paranormal themed line the Conjuring and Insidious series.
I used to.. I liked indie horror and would try to find the strangest movies out there. I don't watch many movies in general anymore, but I wouldn't be against watching something that is horror.
I avoid stuff about paranormal activity, though, because I have night terrors, and what I experience with them at times is a little too similar to what those movies are about, so I'd rather not give myself more to hallucinate lol
yeah, I might need to take a break, these horror movies (the polterguest ones) made me have 3 different dreams last night. One in a Russian prison camp, one in a house party where my son broke his left arm, and another....one I just forget, dang it, this morning I could recall all 3
There is a supervisor here (haha) she and her team wears all black every wednesday and her (supervisor) avatar for her email is guess who...yup, Wednesday
It looks like I am just about the only one that loves horror movies. I'm a little surprised.
I begged my kids to watch one but I guess I shouldn't. Not the gory one but only ghost ones. I like those only. Have you need the enfeild poltergueist one? dang, that was scary.

I did enjoy David Bowie's The Labyrinth. That scared my daughter, but she was little.
Little children see things differently, I think. I do remember being with a group of friends one evening watching 'Mad Max' on video. The youngest daughter was still up at the time and, pointing to the screen at the point that someone had just been mown down by a car, she said 'doggie' as the dog wandered across the frame. She seemed oblivious to the actual scene. I did wonder whether she should have been there but, in general, she was paying little attention to TV, just playing, as they do.
Horror movies frighten me and leave me with nightmares for years afterwards.
I steer clear of horror.
The main one I remember was probably not a horror movie but I remember it after all these years. The clip was "The Snow Queen" being nasty in a children's movie. I was under five and it made me so sad. I remember crying and have never forgotton it.

To be honest I think horror films can poison the minds of vulnerable people. If you can accept and realize it is fiction, then no: you don't need to worry. But if you've got an imagination like mine it is best to not indulge in any horror movies.
