I'm off on a limb here but the interesting ones for me are some of the US Navy WWII flight training videos I found when I first got my flight simulator program and was learning to fly. A display of ridiculous errors to show what can happen. Maybe not for the squeamish but amusing.

I grew up with a family friend giving us flights around the area in his little plane. Too excited to be scared!
Big planes aren't as fun somehow. I think the cost is the big deterrent now, but if that was covered, I'd go for a fast way to travel. (Still want to travel across Canada by train, but it's a luxury kind of trip now, and really slow!)

I prefer little planes too but I have only been in one once.
Someone I knew has travelled across Canada by train. It is one of the holidays some here look toward to as well. Maybe it's not surprising to know there are people living there who want to but haven't either.
I have been on a plane twice in 56 years of life. Once to NY and once on the way home. Skully that was famous for that lifesaving land in the Hudson was my pilot home. I will never fly again unless it's a matter of life and death. I didn't enjoy the experience. It scared the hell outta me.
Thinking about my experiences I think it may well be better for many people if they had more control. For myself, for instance, I am not a good passenger in a car. I prefer to be driving myself as, when I am a passenger, I am often seeing potential situations and wondering if the driver has seen them.
It would be chaos if everyone flew their own planes though

I find flying a complete yawn. I am not fussy on it

I think not being in control of any situation and make you uncomfortable. Like you said in being in a car, I am more comfortable driving. that being a passenger. My husband is always making fun of me for using the phantom brake on the passenger side of the car.
I once sat on a plane with an older couple next to me , he was obviously a bit nervous and maybe not a frequent flyer. As the pre flight checks took place and the flaps moved making noises he was visibly shocked and started looking around ( escape?) I just casually said 'I had a car that made noises like that once,,, failed its MOT of course' He looked at me with eyes like saucers but his wife burst out laughing.. Realising I was joking he calmed and started to chat..He hardly noticed lift off.
Flying into Dublin is ok, Endinburgh is lovely, London Heathrow is awful you jolt down as if the plane is going down stairs with its wheels down. Amsterdam is ok but if you land on the polder baan be ready for a long drive and if you have to circuit Zandfoort on take off the plane has to make a steep turn out, sitting by the window you find yourself staring along the wing as the tip points at the ground!

I am slightly nervous about flying BUT I know it is safe and actually feel more excited than scared!
Being up so high in the sky is amazing and a real adventure. The fact we can fly with the birds is wonderful. I love looking out the airplane window during landing, too, and just seeing the world below.
That reminds me of the time when I let out the dogs before going to bed, and one of them came back in the house with a bloody cut on her foot. I wrapped her foot and off to the emergency vet we went. The bandage came off in the back seat of the car, and my dog left a bloody mess. By the time we returned home, it was too late to even think about cleaning it. The next day, a coworker needed a ride to the auto shop to pick up his car. He took one look in the back seat and his eyes were as big as saucers! I looked back there, too, shrugged my shoulders and said, "Meh...back seat driver" and started the car. We both got a big laugh out of it once I explained what really happened.
I don't like planes or the idea of cruises. I don't like being trapped on anything for prolonged periods that I cannot get out or off from for hours or days at a time lol

It was either my son or stepson had a similar set of controls to that. I perhaps never ought to have got rid of the steering wheel / pedals that they used for their computer games.

Staring down the wing is a bit un-nerving, at least at first. When I went up in the light plane the pilot let me have some control at one point (it was a tandem cockpit dual control trainer), and asked me to turn the plane around 180 degrees. I was not sure on reading the compass at that time as I only noticed the complicated one on the floor but visibility was very good and I saw a red roofed house below so I turned on that. Looking at it I moved the stick and the wing dropped down. My first reaction was to bring it back up again. I ended up waggling it a bit before I gained confidence that we would not instantly fall out of the sky. It was a fantastic feeling.

I do also think - as a random comment - for a person to travel in space, they need to be confident when flying. Not necessarily as the pilot, but as a passenger, too. Because in space you're going to go through the atmosphere, there and back. Also, you can't go out of the spaceship for a "bit of air": you're not trapped, but you're not able to get off the spaceship once in space.
Basically, when regular people start going into space, they will have to be mini-trained: like how to find extra oxygen, how to handle weightlessness, how to eat food and drink liquid in space. It won't be easy and not everyone will pass the space-travel test.

Anyone for camping?
I'd be okay with that because I can technically leave whenever I want lol unless someone else took me there and refuses to let me leave, then yes, I'd have a problem!

Just a few issues to think about!
I can see that you wouldn't need to be claustrophobic. I am not so sure about the fear of flying though as it is perhaps only a minor part of what is otherwise a very stressful time. I have never been but I can imagine that seeing the earth from space would seem a bit unreal. Other fears may take precedence?
My fears are more of a problem with heights rather than actual flying. I suppose, in that way, the lesser reality / open experience of the height lowers my sensitivity and so the excitement of the flight overcomes it.

Not snakes, bugs or wild animals then?
I like all of those things, unless they are poisonous or deadly. I would never camp in an area with bears in particular, but I don't have any near me lol
BUT, we were talking about me not liking the feeling of being trapped somewhere ;p I would not go camping because I am not into camping, but my fear of being stuck somewhere would not be the reason not to camp.

I don't know about camping but those sort of things seem common enough in some places over there around houses anyway

For some bizarre reason, I don't fear snakes. In fact, I've handled snakes a few times and love them! They are beautiful creatures.
Bugs I wouldn't choose to handle, but I am not squeamish about them. I've handled spiders millions of times. I've seen flies and worms and all of that.
Actually, bugs are amazing when micro-photographed. They have lots of colours and unique bodies. They are fascinating to look at, actually. Although that doesn't mean I want them in my home!
Back to the 'scared of flying', although we may have seen the film 'Snakes on a plane', that is maybe a bit fanciful except for a light plane in the tro[ics but I imagine there have been a few near panic moments with some form of wildlife loose during a flight?

I loved the panic of the person taking the picture.

There was a flight due to take off when it was discovered a tarantula had escaped its cage. They spent 4 hours searching for the spider. Thankfully they found it, put it securely back in its cage, and the plane was flown.
This was a few years ago now, but people were very scared at the time.
My first thought would be that such an occurrance wouldn't be in the staff guidance book, but on thinking I imagine it would. I imagine people have taken lots of strange creatures on or from holiday.

Reminds me of the One Foot in the Grave episode when Victor gets a snake in his luggage.
