Hi All
really tired of job hunting games.. and job hunting itself. (kinda long - venting) I moved to CA from WA a little over 2 years ago hopefully for a better job. At my job in WA State I was considered to be in a lead position. But some of the staff took issue with me and from what I saw, since they were union and I wasnt they would make more issues and voice their concerns more than they needed to at times. but because they were union, the more they griped they more to some extent they were listened to. to me they came across as spoiled brats. to the point where my job functions would change so I would have less to do with them. I knew there was going to a supervisor position open but also knew they wouldnt ever let me have it so I moved onto what should've been a better job
Never was really trained at the new job. New learned how their areas worked. I worked in medical billing and revenue and each facility is different in its own ways. I got thrown under the bus by another analyst twice. no one even double checked their facts or confirmed anything either. I had left one job because I was tired of the mind games only to go to another facility with similar issues and had enough. staying only 6 months. I left on my own, I wasnt fired. took a couple months off and then was asked by my former employer if I would consider temping for them remotely. they knew I wasnt working yet. working remote is nice since I dont need daycare for my son. but being a temp I have no benefits. I dont get holiday pay, no PTO, no vacation days, no sick days. I am eligible for some benefits but they cost A LOT. Even Obamacare isnt a big help. I'm just barely eligible for the federal assistance. I was paying $600/month for that coverage plus copays. and no one seemed to know which drs are or arent covered. but am now selfpay. my son's one monthly dr's appt is $40 and his meds a little high but paid $215 this month. so I'm still paying less than my monthly premium
have been trying to find full time permanent work. local, remotely and back in WA or OR. but have had the worst luck. I even took an online Medical Coding Billing course and became certified in coding. catch 22. I dont know have enough exp for coding jobs. but I cant get experience w/o experience or by taking a HUGE paycut to a lower level position. Had a couple interviews last late July. Should've had the 1st one but I think they had concerns because I couldnt really even travel the minimal amounts. I told them I could travel but would require enough notice to make sure I have someone to watch my son. I've applied with this company for at least half a dozen other positions or more that I am qualified for and experienced at and been rejected for every single one of them, both in OR and in WA with this employer. Most dont require travel.
the other job I interviewed for ... was with my former employer I had applied for two positions. but my former manager said "well I dont think that job would be a good fit for you really, I think this other position is better suited for you". in other words they choose whats best in their interest. not necessarily mine. I've had this done multiple times to me and it sucks. I know Medicare billing very well but its actually held me back because I'm one of a few who know it this well. so I dont get to move up. so I applied and interviewed for the position suggested. nope didnt get it even though I was all but told I would. the reason? because yeah you're right there are a couple of employees you dont get along with very well. seriously was told that. and the staff I dont get along with, just happen to be union staff that make things difficult on a regular basis. yeah good reason not to hire me.
Most jobs I apply for I dont even hear back from. Not even an acknowledgement or anything. I've tried doing follow up calls to HR and nothing. started to wonder if its because I left my job here after 6 months or if they have something on file I dont know about... but not sure. sometimes it feels like either of the HRs I've applied and interviewed with, if there's a reason they dont want me or are holding me for a particular job. again because its in their interest. really could use benefits again though, especially medical. although being able to take a vacation day occasionally without making up missed time would be nice too
