I often enjoy covers, even if they are not as good as the original.
This always touches me, it is one that makes me think of my ex, and what a waste he was too.
So long honey, babe Where I'm bound, I can't tell Goodbye's too good a word, babe So I'll just say, "Fare thee well" I ain't a-saying you treated me unkind You could've done better but I don't mind You just kinda wasted my precious time But don't think twice, it's all right
I saw a George Michael tribute last year on the cruise. Apparently he has won awards. Not really my sounds, but he seemed pretty good, and it didn't put me off dancing/

George Michael had been a genius: his music is so varied throughout his career. His best album - in my view - is "Older". I love the blues/jazz sounds. He really is a legend.

When I was much younger I would always listen to Cyndi Lauper's album "Hat Full Of Stars". This album includes the song "Sally's Pigeons". I would always burst into tears when I heard it. Even today it makes me cry. The song "Angel" by the Eurythmics also always reduces me to tears. A book by Christopher Pike always made me cry too: Whisper of Death makes me choke up, even today.
Various tracks from the 60s the Supremes,Shirelles, Julie London etc . Now George Michael listen without prejudice.
Largely, the quality of music from the sixties was not so good as the seventies, but there was a very much so experimental vibe, and a lot of music appeared that would never have surfaced from the seventies onwards as 'our' music became so much more controlled as the years grew.
When you look at the pop charts back then, there were far more different genres in the charts than ever since.
This is an excellent example of an experimental sound was made in the sixties.
It also hit the charts in the seventies and the noughties.
