who is ready for halloween and anyone got any plans? I have my decorations up, playlist ready, and lots of candy for any trick or treaters that come over.
not sure I'll be doing much myself, I may just find a spooky podcast or something
oh: I am going to make halloween chicken nuggets with a BBQ sauce face
We don't celebrate Halloween in the Netherlands but I know in the UK and in Ireland as well as in America it's quite a big festival. My grandson has autism and is mute and that's why I found this idea of a blue Halloween bucket such a lovely idea, it means that children like him can enjoy the party without being questioned why they are not speaking. www.newsweek.com/blue-bucket-halloween-autism-trick-treat-1465718

We don't get many kids around here. We have mostly retired people it seems in this neighborhood. We usually don't buy candy or do much of anything for it, but I always liked Halloween as a kid.

I can count on one hand the number of times I haven't given out Halloween candy. Last year was one of those times; unfortunately, this year will be the same.

We have a celebration of st. Martin on the 11th of November. The children walk around with lanterns and sing songs at the door for sweets. Obviously last year was difficult but my solution was to put an honesty tray full of treats on my front porch and left a little note asking the children to take one sweet and leave some for other people. I was quite shocked at the end of the evening when I open the door and found some sweeties still on the tray they had obviously been very honest children.

I am very much looking forward to Halloween: it is my favourite time of year. I truly love the season of autumn and just celebrating the harvest. I shall be attending my social club Halloween party this year [as I do virtually every year] and will give candy to trick or treaters!

I'll probably eat some candy myself... lol
It's the opposite here. we usually get hundreds. I am not sure what will be happening this year though. Last year we didn't give out candy.

When I have kids I am going to make sure they're taken out trick or treating every year. It IS a magical time of year and I'd want my kids to celebrate Halloween.
Here in the UK trick or treat seems to have replaced November 4th which was mischief night when peoples gates were taken off or children ran around knocking on doors and running etc. Trick or treat is an Americanism which has been adopted although Halloween has been around all the time.
We have sweets for the children but tend to end up eating most of them ourselves. Around here these days the children are usually accompanied by adults who wait at the roadside. They usually only visit their friends or houses of people they know well. As they are mostly younger children they finish early so, over the years, I saw little of them as they would usually be home by the time I got home from work.
With any luck they may put 'It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown, on TV again. I like Peanuts.
sounds like it's time to fire up the other laptop and make a fresh batch of avatars. lol!
i don't celebrate, dress up, or pass out candy anymore. if they let us at work i like to look for halloween tee shirts. but likely won't do that this year either.

i've always wondered why people love halloween so much. i mean, life is scary enough as it is and now you want to add to that? lol (I didn't grow up celebrating it so that prob has a lot to do w my views)

It's just a fun tradition I guess.. and I think the main appeal for the kids is the candy ;p It was the only time of year I ever was able to eat a bunch of candy!
I liked dressing up in more scary costumes as a teen, but as a kid I would be just about anything.. a genie, witch, princess, non-scary vampire lol

Halloween is fun. This will be our first halloween party since lockdown.
I think I told you a few years back at our halloween party. My son, who is a film buff, and loves horror was told by his siblings to bring a couple of horror films to our party, "but they must not be too gory!"
Well, the first one got started and it quickly had a girls blouse falling down, so yes, it was soft porn. LOL
Well, my daughter said it was inappropriate, and on the way home, he got his butt kicked for showing us such stuff.
Kids think their parents are so innocent and naive.
i like dressing up in costumes on occasion but I don't like the scary/gory part of halloween. i don't dress up if I don't have to though so most years I don't. my friend's birthday is near halloween and she does a huge themed party every year and the first one I went to was "white themed" so I made a bedsheet toga and went as Phryne for my backstory so that I didn't seem as lazy as I was. this year it's carnival themed so I'm going to make a brown bear onesie and wear a colorful collar and party hat with a little sign that says "will turn tricks for food."

I used to always dress up but I haven't the last couple of Halloweens. This year I probably won't either but I will be giving candy out again u like last year when I didn't. let the decorating continue tonight.

Halloween and autumn is my favourite time of year!
I love nature in autumn: the autumnal weather is beautiful. I love the traditions of Halloween, too. I truly love this time of year. There is such nostalgia and such charm with old traditions. I read 'Point Horror' classic "Trick or Treat" by Richie Tankersley Cusick every year, this time of year.
