My childhood was a bit old fashioned with the discipline so was painful at times but I was a bit of a rebel. It was a good childhood though as we were safe, well fed and generally happy. We were not rich but dad always had work so we were never on the breadline but he did have to work hard. Farm workers were never well paid.

My grandfather had been a farmer in Ireland in the early 1900's - 1984.
1984 is the year my grandfather died. My grandmother - Mary - died years later: on my dad's birthday, would you believe. Plus, one of my aunts has her birthday on Valentine's Day. Lucky, eh?
My family tree is really interesting.
But that's the way the world is, James: if you don't look like you deserve that desk, you're not going to get that desk.
I feel that I had a great childhood. Both of my parents are loving individuals and instilled what i consider the good values that I have today. of course if i swayed, which I did while growing up, I was disciplined.

Swaying was obviously a bit of a faux pas in your house then?
