Each to their own and I'm sure it's lovely and suits some people but not me I find it too busy I couldn't settle in that it's like taking acid or something.
Not for me at all.. too many colors... and many are colors I do not like lol I am also pretty simple and minimalist. Just a touch of color here and there suits me.

I have to agree: it IS too cluttered. It looks great in the photos but there is just too much stuff. I'm not into the cluttered look. Although I do think it is a very creative and colourful apartment. Maybe not for all our tastes, but it is still creative.
Anyhow, Apartment Therapy does showcase homes with a lot of colour. In my own apartment, I have peach painted walls in my lounge and my bedroom is painted pure white. There is no wallpaper whatsoever in my home. I HATE wallpaper: it is old, stale and an eyesore. Plus, it encourages mould. No: wallpaper is ugly.
As for floors: I love hardwood floors with rugs. I like beige carpets, too. I also love having artwork on my lounge walls.
I do think a home should reflect the owner . Its sad these days when you walk into a house and can almost label the funiture and art to where it came from or the fashion trend it follows.. They are just boxes filled with the same stuff .. Like wearing a gucci suit or carrying a YSL bag..because thats the trend this year.
Our homes are an extension of us. Surely they should be a reflection of us and how we feel. Im always reminded of those houses (like an aunt of mine) that just 'happen'to have a copy of vogue or country living magazines laying 'çasually' on a table, unread and only there for the show and an expensive coffee machine in the kitchen while they drink instant 90% of the time.
Be true to yourself your home is your castle make it what you want not what some fashion brand tells you it should be.
I don't think anyone here would be crazy about my home lol. Too small, too many hobbies and never wanting to throw anything away! It is comfy though and there is only one room with a darkish strong blue colour - my stepson's old room, now my hobby room.
No I wouldn't go for such vivid colours, at least not now (my bedroom at one time when I was a teenager was vivid orange red walls and bright yellow ceiling lol). I don't hate it. I think the main thing I don't like is the house door appears to open into the front room. I have always liked a hallway, however small, to shut out the world and nosey visitors. I am not sure how I would cope with the 'keep up with the Joneses' attitude. I tend to be a bit eccentric. One of my favourite things I have heard from a star was on from of the old vinyl LP's I have got. I forget the name but it was Frank Zappa and the Mothers of Invention. He mentions a trend setter. I liked that. Probably not me at all but I would more likely set trends than follow them lol
One of the biggest compliments I ever got was from my neighbour and I don't even think she meant it as a compliment.. But she popped in in her sloppy training trousers and a pair of slippers. She said 'excuse the garb but I know you won't mind and I always feel that I can just walk into your house and be who I am , I don't have to dress up or 'pretend' when I come here' ..

I wish mine didn't reflect who I was lol.
I am more strict with having my room reflecting who I am though. That I am quite proud of.

I don't see the point of an expensive coffee machine: why not just use a large caffetterie? It is smaller, easier to clean, is efficient, takes up much less room in the kitchen and is easier to use. It's like I refuse to buy a microwave: it is too large and bulky and I have no need for one.
Back to the caffetterie: I use mine virtually every morning. A coffee machine looks fancy, but is something I'll never purchase.
The home was a little bit busy for my tastes, but not too much. The first few pictures worked for me. Maybe the paint colours were the best for me, then the wallpaper patterns and prints got to my eyes.

Not enough counter space here for an expensive machine, but I did give space for my Breville teamaker. Other things, I'll try to put away so the counter can have a fruit bowl and then room for food prep.
I think microwaves are seen as necessities here. I use mine to heat up leftover food and defrost frozen items (usually fruit). Helps in the summer when it's so hot and we don't want to cook using the stovetop. However, I have to admit I could survive without one if space were an issue. (My dining room had enough room for me to turn an old entertainment centre into a sort of hutch. The microwave gets the spot where a TV would have been placed. I think it's 1.2 cubic feet for the size. The last one we had was a bit smaller.)
Our kitchen is a small galley type affair, the previous owners for some unknown reason thought it would be a great idea to put a large double sink in the dead center of the worktop space..
OH ripped the whole lot out and redesigned it for me, not only are the base units slightly higher so I dont have to lean but the kitchen in now in an inverted L shape.. in the short part of the L is the sink (single) under which is the dishwasher and the long part of the L is all conter top until it meets the hob at the very end. This give me maxiumum space to work. I also have a rail such as you see in professional kitchens with all my day to day tools hanging on it. This gives me even more space. My microwave is to the right and behind the hob in the adjoining utility area, it might be a small space but its worked out to give maximum cooking space .
I have a kitchen island of 9ft x 4.5ft, it looks empty most of the time Just like my bathrooms.
Not surprised
I am not kidding Cherry, my bathroom has one piece of soap or body soap lotion and one bottle of shampoo. No foofoo loofa, back scratcher, bath bomb.... I use disposable facial wipe so no face towel, just one towel and one turby tubby.

I have seen so many pics of your houses, I never thought for a moment that you were.
I so admire your clean lines, especially as I pause typing this to look around my lounge. lol

hehhe...I take pity on my cleaner, he charges me the same amount cleaning my houses regardless of the size so I try to make it easier for him. I either unclutter my house so he has less to clean or space out the cleaning period, intead of every week, I would do 3 times a month but still pay him the same.
