Ive been for my dental checkup and everything was good. Walked the dogs twice, hoovered, cleaned out the downstairs toilet, cooked lunch and dinner.plus I visited my old people and picked up their shopping lists ready for tomorrow. I'm also taking my friend to the dentist tomorrow she has toothache...
Hubby and I went to breakfast then went to the beach. We got into the water, so pleasant, except that the tides are very hight so we had to get out 15 min after that. Now, get a little works done before dinner.
Going to relax.. but have to get some shopping done. Might clean a bit... Right now I'm eating chocolate, but it's not giving me enough energy to feel like getting anything accomplished lol
Just phoned the dentist and made an appointment for this afternoon.
I need a check up anyway and I think Ive spotted a hairline crack in the enamel on one tooth.. Hopefully if I get there straight away he can do something about it.
Spent the entire day at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, good news that the tumors in my FIL's lung and liver continue to shrink. His liver is functioning just fine, not decreasing.
My husband went in to talk to his father's doctors today. All three were present at hubby's request, they are very optimistic with the treatment.
Happy days for you, and for us too.
Andrea found a lump on her breast last month. We found last week, just before our holiday, that it's just that, a lump.

The waves are running high right now because of that system that is near the Bahamas.

Nothing more serious.
That must of been so nerve racking waiting to find out. I'm glad that everything is okay.

Great to know Cherry, Andrea must feel so relieved now.
On another note, i must say, people here are one of the nicest I have ever met, so friendly and helpful and engaging.
Annie, I noticed that when I first moved here. So much more friendly than back up in New England.
It's just not one or two incidents, everytime, everyday we run into people who are so incredibly hospitable. For example, my husband stopped a car in front of the restaurant, I got out and closed the car door, then walked away without realizing that I did not close the door properly, a person who was standing nearby just approached the car and closed the door for us.
We were at the beach today, I told my husband to go find out if there was a shower outdoor. Not only that this couple told my husband where it was, they even walked him to the location and then walked back to their car about 50ft away.
These are just two of a few other occasions, My husband and I are totally impressed of how pleasant people here are.

Getting some of the school paperwork done over the phone is probably more efficient in some ways, but so much talk interrupts my other plans. Oh well, now I don't have to wonder what it all means, fill it out as best I can, and send it back after arguing with my scanner. LOL

We went on holiday near the New Forest a couple of years ago, and couldn't believe the people were so friendly. It really makes a holiday so special.

I know that there are a lot of reports of "bad" people in Florida but as you have seen, there are a lot of wonderful people here that go out of their wy to help others.

Yeh, right!
I only eat chocolate too when I want some energy.
It's dark chocolate, so higher caffeine content! My SO eats it for caffeine plus liking chocolate, I just eat it... but then I don't notice any energy afterward, but it kills my appetite lol

I think it really depends on the location.... lol I did not grow up in a friendly part of Florida.

There was an odd moment today. During dinner, my MIL asked me how she can locate a good estate planning attorney in Florida to update their will. So I show her the way I know how, get on Yelp, find someone with great reviews from a lot of people. When we get together for dessert in front of the TV, my IL told us : you will be the only heirs if something happens to us.
My husband has a younger brother and a younger sister. My BIL committed suicide in 2019, he had schizophrenia. My SIL married to a black professor at SUNY, she got married without telling anyone, we found out from her pictures on FB. They spent their honeymoon at my IL's vacation home in Cape Cod, frequently spent weekends at my IL's place in NY then one day, about 10 months ago, she decided to stop talking to her parents. When we found out my FIL was very sick, my husband called her asking her to talk to the parents and she refused, she told my husband their parents were racist, did not care about her ( well, parents bought her the house in Binghamton where she is living at right now with husband, she called on Daddy for every single thing), she said my IL choose to live in the kind of town that her husband would be shot walking down the street. After three trials, my husband gave up but we never told the parents what this woman said. It's just terrible. I told her I did not get along with my parents but the minute they were sick, I was there. She told me it was because I was Asian !!!
I know my husband will not leave her out in the cold when the day comes but such she is so ungrateful, I know how my MIL really treasured the relationship with her only daughter.

Some people are really not worth the effort, and you can't let them get you down. Unfortunately, we all know at least one.

I get on quite well with my ex , sister in law even if it is only via skype. She views my late brother as a useless and cold husband. I saw him as a warm generous and caring man /brother, to me he was funny hard working and kind. Her view is that he was unemotional and distant.
We could be talking about two different men but just as milk is lovely on its own and in coffee if produces a great result if you add milk to oranje juice the result is stomach churning. So it is with people... Maybe your SIL is the OJ and your IL the milk... and of couse you cant discount the influence her new husband has.
Put her to the back of your mind your IL's and your husband are the people who deserve and need your love and attention right now.

This is very true and it reminds me of something I always keep in mind: "I am who you think I am."
As I left the house this afternoon two older ladies approached me quite tentatively and asked if I would mind taking photos of them outside the house opposite. I must have looked a bit doubtful and then the older lady showed me a photograph of herself outside the same house, it was taking 60 something years ago when she lived there and her daughter was born there.
They are just here for a visit and wanted to see how much of the area was still recognisable.
