You have to wonder just how low the standards are if you can post sex videos to complete strangers and not break the rules.
That is definitely not allowed on FB. I think the issue is that FB has too many members, so some things slip through... otherwise, we must report things to bring it to their attention for removal... and the account can be banned or at least disabled.
I think that on Facebook that things are often updated very quickly as well. On a busy thread lots of replies can appear in no time at all. That way a quieter thread can be pushed into the past very quickly.
Not everything on Facebook is accurate though. One has to keep that in mind.
I like Facebook to an extent. However, I think some of the more hostile users need to be weeded out and dumped at the virtual curb. I don't mind the censorship so much if it were on realistic things like the porn crap and whatever else like that shows up. It's when they're going through the language stuff and we can't type weeds or flowers or hybrids or molly which are words from our video game because they are considered drug related yet a dude with a fat stack of cash and a pistol can advertise marijuana sales.
Other than looking at food, humor and gaming posts, that's all I participate in. I don't even post much.

Like any kind of crowd, Facebook has its bad ones.
No matter where you go on the world wide web, there will be criminals, liars and troublemakers. Just like the "real" world. It is a bit like Sandra: she seemed OK, but then she posted porn. You do have to be very careful on any website.
I know I'm defending Facebook, but I do love that website: as much as here!
But that's the way the world is, James: if you don't look like you deserve that desk, you're not going to get that desk.

People have been thrown off of here for less heresy than that!

It has its usefullness and it has its downside as you said.
I just got tired of all the "garbage" that kept showing up. And the fact that whatever I researched on the internet was already being shown on my page.

Facebook is part of advertising: and so many companies sell their products and services on the site. It used to be just to connect with friends and family, but now it is about selling anything and everything. This is because Facebook is worth billions of dollars and where else better to advertise your services/products/whatever?
I'm not saying whether this is right or wrong, though: I am just stating the facts.

I've been using Twitter and Reddit a bit more... for reading news articles or science articles lol the same reason I use FB. I feel like an antisocial dork.

I have a Facebook account. I access it only occasionally. I don't have any "friends," because I don't want to subject them to even more marketing on my behalf. I have "liked" various businesses and charities so that I can get updates on various events.

I do this. I don't tend to post personal things: I don't want people on Facebook knowing my business.
I just use it to share information*, like charities and social events. Even the odd photo of somewhere I'd love to visit or pretty makeup. I don't spread nasty information on Facebook. I don't make personal comments, either. I keep things at arm's length.
*That doesn't target or subject people to abuse.

Face book Well now its really the only detail i have and use i have family and many friends plus 100,s more from our groups i,m a member of like dancing and The SCA our reinactment group, so i find really i,m just a spy i dont write much at all is just to know whats going on if or when i need to contact them then i can . Bottom line is it,s been changed 3 times since i, have been on then a week or so goes by and maybe then i have got it ,
The skype thingy worked for a few friends then after a year i gave up could not get it to work so packed it in no other ones i wont use them just a hassle so if i get asked i say no end of ,other than the forums thats it,
Well I'm not very social I have very few people on my personal account and I don't tend to comment that much just like the odd poster show the odd photograph.
But my dogs have quite a few fans they have daily updates lots of photographs and I've created charity calendar featuring them that's selling well via fb and hopefully we will be able to raise some money for a dog charity which I can hand over at Christmas.
I think people use Facebook and Twitter for different things. Facebook is more used to interact with family and friends while Twitter is more for business and news 🤔
