Yes, for seven years after my divorce. I had dogs, though.

Yes. I was only thinking a day or so ago, with all this covid and other diseases about. When I was at school I got ill with flu and was taken to the sick room. It was a room inside the building with no windows and no clock. I was forgotton about and was in the room all afternoon feeling worse and worse. I wondered what time it was and finally went out to find school had ended. It was not possible to hear the bell in there. I was just lucky in that I managed to catch the last bus back to our village (10 miles away) but that bus dropped me at the other side of the village from home. It was winter and it had been snowing heavily so I had to trudge through a foot of snow for half a mile with a nasty pounding head and fever. I will never forget it but was happy that all ended well.
